Before we scan
What contractors ask us first.
Still not sure what's wrong?
Tell us what it's doing and we'll book the right person.
Can the scan tell a live power cable from rebar?
Yes. Our GPR has a Power Cable Detector that separates cables carrying current from other embedded objects.
Is GPR safe to run near other people?
Yes. Unlike x-ray there is no radiation, so the user and anyone nearby are safe and neighbouring businesses keep working.
Will scanning disrupt our site?
Very little. It is quick and non-destructive, and the images come up in real time.
Do I need a scan before coring?
Almost always. A cut through rebar, conduit, gas pipe or post-tension cable can weaken the structure or hurt someone.
What can you core for?
Lab samples, openings for pipe, HVAC duct and conduit, and partial removal ahead of renovation or demolition.
Do you charge for an estimate?
No. Estimates are free. Tell us what needs scanning or coring and where.

Scanning and coring for contractors and cities across Metro Vancouver.
Know what is in the slab before you cut.
Scanning
Rebar, conduit, gas pipe and post-tension cable hide inside old concrete. Cut through one and you weaken the structure or put a worker in danger. We scan first, so you know what's there.
Our GPR sends radio waves into the slab and times the reflections. Continuous passes build a 3D map in real time. Its Power Cable Detector picks out cables carrying current from everything else.
It finds power cables, rebar, radiant heating, post-tension cables, PVC and galvanized steel conduit, corrosion, voids beneath slab-on-grade and the bottom of the slab.
Coring
Our core drill runs a diamond-tipped bit, cooled with water the whole way through. We core for lab samples that test strength, density and composition, for openings that take pipe, HVAC duct and conduit through the slab instead of along its face, and for partial removal ahead of renovation or demolition.
Coring should almost always follow a scan. We do both, so one crew handles the hole from map to core.
Who we work for
Construction companies, general contractors, mechanical and electrical contractors, and cities and municipalities across Metro Vancouver.
Cost
Estimates are free. A scan costs less than the repair after a hit you didn't see, and the rebar and tendon map gives your engineers better numbers to plan with.
