Does a heat pump work in Metro Vancouver winters?
Yes. Our mild winters are ideal for heat pumps, which can reach up to 90% efficiency here. For the coldest days, a dual fuel system switches to gas automatically.
Should I get a central or ductless heat pump?
If you already have furnace ducts, a central heat pump can use them to reach the whole house. No ducts, or only one or two rooms to heat and cool? A ductless split or multi-split usually fits better.
Do I really need my furnace or boiler serviced every year?
Most manufacturers ask for service records before covering a repair. Without them they can decline or prorate the warranty. A yearly service also keeps the system running efficiently.
Can you help me get a FortisBC rebate?
Yes. FortisBC rebates change through the year, so check their site for current offers. Applications go through your own account, and our office staff can walk you through it.

Our team is trained, certified and licensed in asbestos abatement. We contain the area, remove the material and dispose of it safely, with minimal exposure.

Choosing the right system for your home.
Heat pumps
A heat pump moves heat rather than making it. In winter it pulls warmth from outdoor air into the house. In summer it runs in reverse as air conditioning.
Our mild climate suits them well. Here they can reach up to 90% efficiency and last 15 to 20 years, depending on maintenance and use.
Central heat pumps use your existing furnace ductwork to reach the whole house. Ductless units heat or cool one room, or several with a multi-split system.
Dual fuel systems
A high-efficiency gas furnace and an electric heat pump share the work. The system picks the cheaper fuel for the outdoor temperature and switches to gas when it gets very cold.

Annual servicing protects your warranty
When a system breaks down, the manufacturer asks for service records. Without them, they can decline or prorate your warranty. A yearly service also keeps efficiency up and catches small problems before they turn into big ones. Ask us about our maintenance membership plans.
Asbestos abatement
Asbestos was used in B.C. buildings until the early 1990s. If we find it while cutting into walls, ceilings or floors, our team is trained, certified and licensed to contain it, remove it and dispose of it with minimal exposure.
